Tokyo venue may lose Olympic golf

Japan’s Kasumigaseki Country Club, the proposed golf venue for the 2020 Olympics, may have its Olympic hosting invitation rescinded. The course, just northwest of Tokyo, has barred women from becoming full members. “We made quite clear that there has to be gender equality,” said International Olympic Committee vice-president John Coates. “If they can’t achieve the gender equality, then we have to get another course.” The club, in Japan’s Saitama prefecture, was founded in 1929.
