- TREVOR WILHELM

Windsor police say officers checking on an auto dealership the day after it was broken into found suspects in the parking lot trying to steal a car.

Police received a call Saturday around 1:40 a.m. about a break-in at Windsor Chrysler in the 10300 block of Tecumseh Road East. Police received more calls Sunday about suspicious activity around the building.

Around 10 p.m., officers noticed a vehicle carrying two people in the back of the parking lot and pulled up to investigate. They then realized there was a third person inside another car, which belonged to the dealership.

That person was allegedly trying to start the dealership’s car. When he saw the cruiser, the man took off running through the parking lot. Officers quickly caught up to him.

They also arrested the two people in the other car, which police said all three suspects had arrived in. Officers searched the car and allegedly found items from inside the dealership. Police said they also searched the 29-year-old driver of that car and found a knife, 9.2 grams of methamphetamine, some cash and a digital scale.
