Cancel if you can’t make appointment
Recently, a friend of ours experienced some severe health problems and was referred for an MRI at Windsor Regional Hospital’s Ouellette Avenue site.
The appointment is scheduled for June 26 — some 21/2 months she’s been waiting and she’s on a cancellation list. Because of this situation, we have learned from staff at the hospital that many times people don’t cancel their appointments, but rather, just don’t show up.
Apparently, this happened five times that day. This just isn’t right.
More than one staff member has made us aware that this happens.
Until this was brought to our attention, we wouldn’t have known this kind of inexcusable behaviour goes on.
Please people, have some consideration for another person who desperately needs their tests as soon as possible. Not showing up takes away another’s chances of having their problems taken care of expeditiously.
Many times people blame our government for all that’s wrong in our health care but they’re not aware that some people are too inconsiderate and don’t care about the needs of others.
When you can’t keep an appointment, have the decency to at least call the hospital to cancel, so that another can take their place.
We have told the hospital we can be there within an hour. Pat Suzor, Tilbury
