Wildcats win WECSSAA girls’ AAA final on penalty kick
The Villanova Wildcats scored on a penalty in the first overtime and that was the difference in a 1-0 win over the St. Anne Saints in the WECSSAA girls’ AAA soccer final on Thursday at McHugh Park.
The two teams were scoreless through regulation, but the Wildcats were awarded a penalty when a St. Anne defender deliberately played a ball with her hand to prevent it going over the goal-line.
Jalyn Cirino connected on the penalty to put the Wildcats up 1-0 against the defending champion Saints. The penalty also resulted in a red card to the Saints defender and St. Anne played down a player the rest of the way and could not produce a goal against Wildcats keeper Alessandra Schemri.
RIVERSIDE 2 ST. JOSEPH 1

Jan Minga’s goal in the 55th minute had the Lasers up 1-0, but the Rebels were awarded a pair of penalty kicks in a span of 10 minutes. Hassan Zaitoun converted both to rally the Rebels to victory.
BRENNAN 2 SANDWICH 0
