Police identify man they suspect was hit and killed by vehicle
Windsor police have identified the man who detectives believe was fatally struck by a vehicle near the Little Memphis Cabaret during the early-morning hours of April 29.
The case of Steven Hill — a 43-year-old Windsor man also known as Steven Kiyoshk — is now being described by police as a death investigation rather than a murder investigation.
“It is possible that the involved driver was not even aware that a person had been struck,” Windsor police said in a release.
According to police, Hill was last seen on April 29 around 1:30 a.m. when a taxi dropped him off at the address.
Detectives want to speak with anyone who saw Hill between that time and 4:45 a.m.
Officers were called to the location around 3:55 a.m. after a passing motorist noticed Hill lying injured on the sidewalk.
The cause of death was bluntforce trauma.
Investigators made it known they wanted to talk to the drivers of three vehicles that were recorded on a surveillance camera in the area.
One of those vehicles has since been identified and ruled out in this case.
Police are still seeking the drivers of the two other vehicles: a white cube van and a smaller SUV.
Both vehicles were westbound on Tecumseh Road East and passed the Alexis Road intersection shortly before 3:55 a.m.
Anyone with further information about the deceased, these vehicles, or this incident is asked to call detectives at 519-255-6700, ext. 4830.
Anonymous tips can be made via Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 or www.catchcrooks.com.
A memorial gathering and service for Hill took place on May 8.
He leaves behind a wife, four children, a step-child, a stepmother, siblings and many extended family members.
