One-stop shop for your outdoor oasis

- BY REBECCA WRIGHT

These days, there is a major trend towards “bringing the indoors outdoors,” according to a local business owner, which is why he says he is proud to provide Windsor-Essex residents a turnkey solution for beautifying their home’s outdoor spaces.

Shawn Kelly, co-owner of Creative Homescapes with Randy Pillon – which has been open in the community since 1987 – says his business has everything you’ll need to make your front and backyard the best it can be.

“Our tagline – Living Beyond Walls – speaks directly to this trend,” explains Kelly. “People want to get more out of their homes, especially their outdoor living spaces. We’ve been doing this in Windsor-Essex longer than any other company, and we have everything people need to create their own backyard oasis.”

And with people’s lives being busier than ever – at work and at home, and with kids involved in sports, music, and more – they need a place where they can get the products and services they want, along with expertise they need.

“Nobody has time to be shopping at a dozen different places,” says Kelly. “At Creative Homescapes, we offer everything you need for your outdoor spaces. Whether it’s gorgeous landscaping, innovative decks & fences, pools and spas, or outdoor living products, we have everything you need to bring your backyard dreams to life – together with the know-how and experience to pull it all together.”

Their showroom features a full line of BBQs, grills, smokers, hot tubs, outdoor furniture, pool supplies and accessories, shade systems, nursery products and more. The business also offers a full line of outdoor living services, including landscaping, stonescaping, decking, fencing, pools, patios and gazebos.

And, says Kelly, they’re proud to support customers at all ends of the spectrum – from homeowners to contractors to commercial customers. And if you’re the do-it-yourself type, their full line of premium lumber, composites and building materials are sure to meet your project’s needs, he adds.

“We’ve done all the homework by finding the best products at great prices,” says Kelly.

But beyond the unique products they sell, Creative Homescapes’ competitive edge comes from the staff ’s considerable knowledge and experience, asserts Kelly.

“We have horticulture experts, we have designers – some with more architectural training, some with more landscaping training. Some of our workers have been building decks, fences and pools for over 20 years,” says Kelly. “If I added up all their combined experience, it would probably amount to several hundred years.”

Creative Homescapes recently moved from their long-time location on Highway 3 at Walker Road to a new spot on County Rd. 42 across from Windsor Airport, which allows for greater expansion.

“We hope to start construction later this year or next spring on a new, larger retail showroom to offer even more products and services,” he adds.

At Creative Homescapes, you’ll find unique, top-quality products from reputable companies, according to retail sales manager Mike Myers.

“We’re trying to give our customers top quality for their dollar,” says Myers. “That doesn’t always mean the lowest price – but our goal is to offer the best value. That’s what is most important to our customers.”

What it all comes down to, says Kelly, is comfortable outdoor living.

“The trend is not just outdoor living, but being as comfortable as possible outdoors. We help with that through things like shade systems, rain protection, screens, outdoor heaters and more,” explains Kelly. “Years ago, not all pools had heaters, but now 100 per cent of the pools that are installed have heaters. Everyone wants to be comfortable while living well outdoors.”

Kelly says the inspiration behind the business is their unwavering aspiration to be the best.

“We strive to be the best at what we do -and that’s not just the installation and service part of our business. It’s also about the great products we sell and the great value we give to our customers,” says Kelly. “That’s been a mission of ours for 30 years now.”
