Where have the real car people gone?

-

Back when a lot of us started driving, if you showed up with a four-door sedan or a pickup truck, everyone laughed or just ignored you.

Not today. We all see the in thing — install a noisy exhaust and jack up your four-door truck. Yes, and install your computer chip and drive around with your arm out the window thinking: “Am I cool.”

Let’s look at the muscle cars of today — 600, 700, 800 horsepower, so you can see black strips in your mirror, no other reason.

These wannabe racers never go down any drag strip. No, instead they just try to impress those like myself who just laugh at the waste of money.

Maybe I’m just jealous because my youth is so far back.

Need to read old articles about local drag racing and when you raced what you bought — not simply emailing others what the dealer told you how fast it goes.
