Police probe shooting and stabbing involving local teens
A 15-year-old Windsor boy is facing assault charges and police are looking for two others after responding to three incidents involving a shooting, a stabbing and an assault with pepper spray Thursday.
“We believe there may be a link between these incidents,” said Windsor police Const. Andrew Drouillard. “Many of these people were known to each other and it wasn’t a random act.”
Police were dispatched to three separate locations about 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Drouillard said.
Drouillard said two males and a female were standing in the 400 block of Glengarry Avenue when they were approached by a male on a bike who sprayed the female in the face with a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray. By the time paramedics arrived, the males had fled.
Investigators reviewed video surveillance and determined one of the males pulled out a handgun and shot the male on the bike in the arm. The 15-year-old boy on the bike was transported to hospital where he was later charged with assault with a weapon for the pepper spray attack.
“Detectives were able to identify the suspect who allegedly shot the 15-year-old male and are seeking his whereabouts and have a warrant for his arrest,” Drouillard said. “We are still looking for the shooter. We know who he is; we are just looking for his whereabouts.”
In the third incident, officers received a report of a stabbing in the area of University Avenue and Louis Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old male with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper arm.
According to police, the group of males was approached by a male on a bike who was known to them. An argument took place between the 19-year-old victim and the male which escalated into a fight. The male stabbed the victim and fled on a bike. The suspect is described as a lightskinned black male, 19 to 20 years old, six feet tall with a slim build and wearing a black shirt and black pants.
