Wind­sor res­i­dent charged with pos­sess­ing drugs, il­le­gal gun

A 46-year-old Wind­sor man is fac­ing drug and firearms charges af­ter a months-long po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tion cul­mi­nated in an ar­rest Thurs­day.

The Wind­sor Po­lice Ser­vice’s drugs and guns unit ar­rested Kirk McNor­ton with­out in­ci­dent at ap­prox­i­mately 5:45 p.m. in the 1300 block of Wyan­dotte Street East.

Po­lice say they ap­pre­hended McNor­ton in pos­ses­sion of a quan­tity of sus­pected co­caine, sep­a­rate bun­dles of Cana­dian cur­rency and a switch­blade knife.

About 45 min­utes later, hav­ing al­ready ob­tained a war­rant to search his res­i­dence in the 200 block of Reed­mere Road, po­lice dis­cov­ered sub­stances con­sis­tent with drug traf­fick­ing, in­clud­ing sus­pected cut­ting agents, numer­ous cell­phones and dig­i­tal scales. Also seized: 963 grams of sus­pected co­caine; 162.7 grams of sus­pected mar­i­juana; 12 hy­dro­mor­phone pills; and six mor­phine pills.

To­tal es­ti­mated street value of the drugs is $98,209. Po­lice also re­cov­ered a quan­tity of Cana­dian cur­rency, two loaded hand­guns and am­mu­ni­tion.

McNor­ton has been charged with pos­ses­sion of an unau­tho­rized firearm, and pos­ses­sion of a con­trolled sub­stance for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing.
