Windsor resident charged with possessing drugs, illegal gun
A 46-year-old Windsor man is facing drug and firearms charges after a months-long police investigation culminated in an arrest Thursday.
The Windsor Police Service’s drugs and guns unit arrested Kirk McNorton without incident at approximately 5:45 p.m. in the 1300 block of Wyandotte Street East.
Police say they apprehended McNorton in possession of a quantity of suspected cocaine, separate bundles of Canadian currency and a switchblade knife.
About 45 minutes later, having already obtained a warrant to search his residence in the 200 block of Reedmere Road, police discovered substances consistent with drug trafficking, including suspected cutting agents, numerous cellphones and digital scales. Also seized: 963 grams of suspected cocaine; 162.7 grams of suspected marijuana; 12 hydromorphone pills; and six morphine pills.
Total estimated street value of the drugs is $98,209. Police also recovered a quantity of Canadian currency, two loaded handguns and ammunition.
McNorton has been charged with possession of an unauthorized firearm, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
