WIFE WHO FOLLOWED ISIL-SUPPORTING HUSBAND GETS 2 YEARS IN PRISON
A Dutch woman who travelled to Syria and Iraq to support her family while her husband fought with ISIL was convicted Monday of supporting terrorist acts and sentenced to two years in prison.
Laura Hansen, 22, travelled with her husband and children to ISIL-controlled territory in September 2015. In July 2016 she surrendered near Mosul, saying she had been trying to escape the “hell” she was living in.
But a court in Rotterdam ruled that Hansen knew what she was doing when she accompanied her husband, and that her support for him amounted to preparations for terrorist acts.
