Two arrested after busts in Windsor and Toronto
Police believe drugs were transported between two cities
Two men are in custody following a joint forces drug investigation that resulted in the seizure of cocaine and a large amount of cash Thursday in Windsor and Toronto.
Windsor Police seized 252.9 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $25,290, 18.1 grams of suspected marijuana worth approximately $181 and $10,600 in cash following the search of a home in the 2200 block of Alexandra Avenue.
Michael Ballah, a 49-year-old Windsor resident, is charged with possession of suspected crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of suspected marijuana.
Windsor police believe the seized drugs were obtained in the Toronto area and were transported to Windsor. Toronto police searched a home in that city and seized about two kilograms of cocaine. A man was arrested but his name has not been released.
“This case serves as a direct reminder that dangerous and illicit drugs are transported up and down our highways by offenders,” Windsor police spokesman Sgt. Steve Betteridge said in a press release. “Due to the tremendous cooperation and teamwork between multiple agencies, a large quantity of illicit drugs have been removed from the streets.”
The joint investigation began in August when the Windsor Police drugs and guns unit started looking into a local man believed to be travelling to Toronto to buy drugs and bring them back to Windsor.
