Elliott back from ban, but don’t ask him about it

-

Ezekiel Elliott returned to the Dallas Cowboys this week after serving his six-game suspension for domestic violence allegations and deemed it prudent to let his play do most of the talking.

Especially when he was peppered with questions about how he spent nearly all of the suspension in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

“I’m not really going to talk about it,” Elliott told reporters after practice Wednesday.

“It’s behind me. I’m just trying to start a new page, a new chapter. I’m going to thank this Cowboys organization for being behind me. Thank my family, my team and my friends for just supporting me through that time and especially the Cowboys fans who have stuck by me through this tough time and haven’t lost faith in me. But I’m not talking about it anymore. This is going to be the last time you hear me speak about it, so please don’t even ask me about it.”

Elliott, looking thinner and more buff, vowed that he was starting a “new page, a new chapter,” but the Cabo questions kept coming despite his “please don’t even ask me about it” plea. Nor would he discuss a documentary that apparently is planned.

“Just watch it,” he said. “Tell me the message you get.”

Elliott returns to a team that lost the first three games of his suspension, but has regrouped to win its last three and remain alive for a wild-card berth.

The Cowboys will need to win their last two regular-season games, Sunday against the Seahawks at home and on New Year’s Eve against the Eagles in Philadelphia.

I’m not really going to talk about it. It’s behind me. I’m just trying to start a new page, a new chapter.

Elliott only wanted to address the Seahawks and, when reporters kept up the off-the-field questions, he called off the interview after about a minute of interaction.

“All right. I’m done,” he said as he left the locker-room. “Thank you.”

Elliott ended his two-month fight over the suspension and began serving it by missing the Nov. 12 game against the Falcons.
