Windsor needs to improve downtown

-

Windsor absolutely needs to capitalize on our downtown and waterfront scenery.

I am a 26-year-old business owner who has also sold various real estate to clients from outside of the city and province.

Having lived in Windsor for the past eight years and brought my wife from Florida to Windsor, the only thing that seems to attract a lot of people is the waterfront scene. However, when we stand in Detroit and look to Windsor it does not look very appealing.

Now, I am not saying we need to build a Renaissance Center in Windsor, but I do believe we need to build a city place. Our downtown has been washed up with nothing but bars and a few shawarma shops.

There is nowhere for a family to go on a Friday or Saturday night and enjoy the city nightlife while being close to the beautiful view of the river, which is why most families go to convenient Detroit for a night out.

It would be nice to purchase homes east of the casino and turn the area into a large city place with family oriented restaurants, arcades, bowling arenas, cafes, and possibly a movie theatre or small shopping centres.

We need something to attract families to go to and expand our view of a downtown that has only one main street filled with bars. A lot of the homes in that area are not even habitable and it ruins the image of the city, especially being so close to the casino (Windsor’s main attraction) and the riverfront.

We already have tons of investors inside and outside of this booming city. Now is the time to take action and help grow and expand the true hidden beauty this city has to offer.
