LaSalle’s Kylie Masse helped the University of Toronto Varsity Blues capture a fifth-straight OUA women’s swimming title on Saturday.

An Olympic bronze medallist and 2017 world champion, Masse was named the OUA’s female swimmer of the year for a fourth straight year for her performanc­e.

Masse, who is the current world 100-metre backstroke record holder, won four individual gold medals and two relay gold medals at the OUA championsh­ips.

She bettered her own OUA record in the 50-metre backstroke and also won the 100-metre backstroke. Masse also captured the 50-metre freestyle and 100-metre butterfly while setting new OUA records in both. She also helped Toronto to OUA record-breaking performanc­es in the 200-metre freestyle relay and the 200-metre medley relay, which included LaSalle’s Rachel Rode.

EXPRESS DROP RIVER LIONS

A successful Logan Stutz free throw with 80 seconds to play in the fourth quarter put the Windsor Express up for good in a 112-110 win over the Niagara River Lions on Saturday at the WFCU Centre.

Erik Parker came off the bench to lead the Express with 21 points while Stutz and Omar Strong, who are both former members of the River Lions, finished with 16 points each for Windsor along with Chad Frazier.

Maurice Jones chipped in with 12 points and Anthony Ottley Jr. had 11 points for the Express (12-13), who moved a game up on Niagara (12-15) for third place in the NBL of Canada’s Central Division.

MOLSON MASTERS BOWLING

Defending champion Gary Hooper Jr. will seek his third Molson Masters’ title on Saturday after emerging as the top seed after match play on the weekend at Revs Rose Bowl.

Seven-time champion Todd Sim is the second seed while Rob Ladanchuk makes his first appearance in the final as the third seed. The stepladder final will start with five-time champion Darren Alexander taking on Joseph Pettinato.

In the senior division, Mike Snow, who got into match play as an alternate, is the top seed and will play in the final. Jim Hussey, who is a threetime champ, will face Charlie Yott in the first match with the winner moving on to play second seed Marc Pouget.

LANCERS TRACK AND FIELD

Rachel Wolfs broke her own school record in the women’s pole vault by clearing 4.15 metres to win Saturday’s event at the 29th Annual Team Challenge track and field meet at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.

Wolfs’ performanc­e also met the automatic qualifying standard for next month’s USports track and field championsh­ips and the Lancers also had two other performanc­es make standard.

The Windsor men’s 4x200-metre relay team of Jaiden Brown, Tyler Hopkins, Mathew McKeegan and Chris Kramer qualified by winning the race in 1:28.79.

LANCER BASKETBALL

University of Windsor Lancers men’s and women’s basketball teams each scored wins on Saturday in Sault Ste. Marie against the Algoma Thunderbir­ds.

The No. 9-ranked women Lancers won their seventh-straight game with an 80-45 victory over Algoma. Emily Prevost had 15 points and 15 rebounds for the Lancers (18-4) while Carly Steer added 15 points and Eve Uwayesu finished with 14 points against the Thunderbir­ds (2-20).

SAINTS VOLLEYBALL

The St. Clair College men’s and women’s volleyball teams are headed to the playoffs after wrapping up regular-season OCAA play at the SportsPlex on Saturday.

The women’s team beat the Conestoga Condors 3-0 by scores of 25-13, 25-17 and 26-24. St. Clair finished 13-5 and third in the West Division and will host Georgian College on Saturday in a crossover game.
