There is nowhere to shovel the snow

-

While I am grateful that the City of Windsor has done its best to clear the streets on the weekend of Feb. 10-11 and throughout the winter, I greatly object to snow being piled on our sidewalk on Pelissier Street and left for us to remove.

Not only once but twice on Feb. 11, the plow came down our street and deposited the slush and dirt from the street onto our sidewalk. We have an extended walk covering a third of the block, it is no small feat to shovel.

Certainly the city can figure out some better way to clear the streets without then asking homeowners to clean it off their sidewalks and not put it back in the street, as that is against the municipal bylaw.

I am happy to keep my sidewalks clear, but I am not happy to clear and remove the street snow, as well. With the amount of snow we have received this winter there is nowhere for me to throw it. Already the pile on my property is about four feet high.

The slush the snowplow deposited on the walkway is heavy and I can no longer throw it far enough to clear the area. So while I would like to maintain my property, the city is making it nearly impossible.

Since we live on a corner lot, when one plow went down the side street and one went down the main street on Feb. 11, the snow was at least a foot high and three feet from the curb, making walking unsafe. Throughout the winter we have been keeping this area clear for walkers and those in wheelchairs. However, I cannot clear it now. And where would I put it? Maureen Ray, Windsor
