With potentiall­y dozens of retirement­s looming in the next few years, Hiram Walker and Sons Ltd. is holding a resume drop-off event this Saturday for anyone interested in a career with the company. Human resources manager Angelo DeMarco said there are currently seven positions in need of filling and there will be more to come. “We’re preparing for the short-term and what we see coming up as retirement­s,” said DeMarco. “We expect 30 to 40 people will be leaving us (in the coming years), so we expect openings.” The positions that require filling are full-time bottling technician­s and manufactur­ing process operators, with an hourly wage beginning at $20.46 and progressin­g to $31.46. The company also provides competitiv­e benefits and pension programs. The company currently employs 300 at its Windsor operations. De Marco said applicants should be able to demonstrat­e their ability for teamwork and mechanical aptitude. “We’re just looking for people who are team players, want to be part of a great team, people with a continuous improvemen­t mindset,” said DeMarco. There are some technical skills that are required, so mechanical aptitude, and there’s quite a bit of overtime available.” He said the event will also be an opportunit­y to learn about the brands currently produced at Hiram Walkers, including J.P. Wiser’s whisky, Polar Ice vodka and Malibu and Lamb’s rums. The event takes place at 2072 Riverside Dr. E., Building 20, from 9 a.m. until noon. Applicants can also apply online at corby.ca/careers.
