From her lips to yours

Actress Reese Witherspoon has debuted her own signature red lipstick for Elizabeth Arden’s new March On female empowerment initiative.

The bold lip colour, also called March On, continues to link the Oscar winner’s recent promotional campaigns for the cosmetics’ brand with the company’s role in the suffragette movement in the early 1900s, when founder Elizabeth Arden handed out free red lipsticks for activists to wear as they campaigned for the right to vote. Now Witherspoon, who serves as the firm’s storyteller-in-chief, is launching the March On ads to support, encourage and celebrate women worldwide, with all proceeds from her new product benefiting the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, known as UN Women.

“With March On, Elizabeth Arden gives the power of red lipstick a whole new meaning,” Witherspoon tells PeopleStyle. “Not only does it symbolize feminine power and solidarity, but it will also contribute to creating a world where gender equality can become a reality.”

In the campaign video, Witherspoon tells fans: “Never underestimate the power of the right lipstick.

“One hundred per cent of the proceeds of my Elizabeth Arden signature lipstick are going to support UN Women as they help change the lives and futures of women everywhere. “Elizabeth Arden was founded by a woman who was dedicated to empowering other women. Let’s keep that tradition going. Together we march on.”

In addition to funds raised from the sale of the limited edition March On lipsticks, bosses at Elizabeth Arden are also donating $1 million to UN Women.
