Caboto Club cares for those in need

-

I write this letter out of pure frustration with the misinformation that has surrounded the Caboto Club. The Caboto Club employs and supports individuals with disabilities, both visible and invisible.

As the Giovanni Caboto Club is a fraternal social club, membership is exclusive to men. It is also a private club. As such, it is legally allowed to exclude on the basis of gender; health clubs and spas do it without raising concerns. It is a common practice for fraternities and sororities as well.

The Italian Women’s Club is a separate, all female, social club. The Caboto Club and the Women’s Club both celebrate (and cultivate) Italian culture, traditions and heritage.

They consistently — and quietly — work together to support local charities and contribute to our community’s needs.

When I say that the Caboto Club and the Italian Women’s Club are generous in providing charitable support, I am not solely referring to external organizations. My mother is a full-time worker at the Caboto Club, while my father has been a member for years and currently sits on the board of directors. The Caboto Club always reaches out to their members’ and workers’ families in times of need.

They do it because they care, not for publicity.

I invite Windsorites to think twice about sharing inaccurate information about the Caboto Club. Boycotting it means doing a disservice to its employees and to the community at large.
