The Lambeth Lancers have forced a seventh and deciding hockey game with the Lakeshore Canadiens.

The Lancers scored with just under five minutes to play in regulation to tie the game and won it in overtime on Sunday. Sunday’s 3-2 victory in Lambeth tied the best-of-seven Schmalz Cup quarter-final series at 3-3. Game 7 is Monday in Lakeshore.

Stephane Crevier and Connor Rosaasen scored second-period goals to erase an early 1-0 Lambeth lead.

On Saturday, the Canadiens scored the game’s first three goals and then held on for a 3-2 win over the Lancers at the Atlas Tube Centre. Rosaasen, Matt Smith and Liam Hogan scored for the Canadiens while goalie Erik Morneau finished with 25 saves.

JONES SCORED 50

Point guard Maurice Jones scored a club-record 50 points, but it wasn’t enough to carry the Windsor Express to victory in a 129-119 NBL of Canada loss to the KW Titans in Kitchener on Saturday.

It was the fourth-straight loss to end the regular season for the Express (20-20), who open a Central Division semifinal series on Friday against the St. John’s Edge.

Braylon Rayson added 25 points for the Express on Saturday against the Titans (8-32) while Logan Stutz chipped in with 12 points, Kevin Loiselle added 11 points and Anthony Ottley Jr. finished with 10 points.

CLIPPERS LACROSSE TOURNAMENT

The Windsor Clippers picked up a win, a loss and a tie on Saturday at the Six Nations Spring Showcase Tournament. Chase Kavanaugh scored twice and Noah Busnell, Nathan Salaris and Alex Mayhead scored single goals for Windsor in a 5-5 tie with the Hamilton Bengals.

The Clippers then got three goals from Jacob Rosa, two from Josh Rosa and singles from Brandon Coulter, Zane Dalph and Connor McManus in an 8-4 win over the London Clippers.

Windsor closed out the tournament with a 6-5 loss to Six Nations with Kavanaugh scoring twice and McManus, Salaris and Jacob Rosa scoring single goals.

FISU CROSS COUNTRY

The University of Windsor Lancers Stef Smith and Andrew Nebel will represent Canada at the FISU World University Cross-Country Championships in St. Gallen, Switzerland, on Sunday.

The two were named to Canada’s 12-member team, which features six men and six women, and will compete over 10km. The duo now bring to 16 the number of Lancers that have competed for Canada at the championships, which are held every two years, since the event began in 2000.

Smith finished in ninth place in the women’s 8km race at the U SPORTS cross-country championships in Victoria, B.C. in November while Nebel placed 13th in the men’s 10km race at the same event.
