Dogs rescued from Parent Avenue fire

Windsor firefighters rescued two dogs from a house fire on Parent Avenue at University Avenue Sunday.

Firefighters were called to 304 Parent Ave. at 1:45 p.m. Sunday where smoke was billowing from the building. A fire that began in the basement had spread to the main floor, causing an estimated $75,000 in damage.

The pets were alone in the building at the time.

Windsor Fire and Rescue says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

The fire began in the crawl space under the water heater.
