Toronto-area medical marijuana

■ investing $30 million to expand and existing greenhouse operation in Enniskille­n Township near Petrolia. The facility, to be known as High Park Farms, has received federal licencing and will begin cultivatin­g marijuana with the first harvest expected in June. The greenhouse, which used to grow bell peppers, has been expanded and adapted to cannabis production. The marijuana will be processed at a new facility that will open in London this summer. ■ greenhouse vegetable grower in Leamington, is adding a 12-hectare, $40-million expansion that will grow marijuana. Double Diamond is partnered with Leamington’s Aphria Inc., one of Canada’s biggest growers of medical marijuana. ■ five acres of greenhouse space from Perfect Pick Farms Ltd., a three-generation family business nearby Strathroy, with an option to lease an additional nine acres and eventually buy the entire operation. Weed MD has been operating a 25,000-squarefoot facility on the site of the former Imperial Tobacco plant since 2016. This week WeedMD announced a merger with Hiku, a Toronto-based company that owns a number of cannabis brands.
