Two vacant former restaurants in Windsor’s downtown may soon besold.

The Windsor Family Credit Union has received several offers for the former City Beer Market and adjoining Chatham Street Grill, CEO Eddie Francis confirmed Tuesday.

“We have narrowed it down to one group. We are in the process of working through that,” he said. “Once anything is definitive, we will have more to say and be in a better position to share that information.” Windsor Family Credit Union took ownership of both buildings in the 100 block of Chatham Street West after the previous owners defaulted on the mortgages. Tom Lucier, owner of the nearby Phog Lounge, speculated on Facebook Tuesday that the new buyer may be the same local group which recently purchased the former Fish Market and Loop building across the street.

Mid South Land Development Company and the owners of Cypher Systems Group are partners in the redevelopment of 156 Chatham St. W., a project which is currently in full swing. They did not wish to comment Tuesday on whether they are pursuing the purchase of the former Beer Market and Chatham Street Grill properties.

The ground floor of both buildings has been vacant for years, although apartments in the floors above are occupied.

The Beer Market — formerly Cadillac Jack’s and, before that, Fiddlers dining and dance club — closed in 2013. The building at 119 Chatham St. W. has 21 apartments on the upper floors. The Chatham Street Grill — previously occupied by L’Auberge De La Bastille — closed in 2009. The building at 149 Chatham St. W. has five loft-style apartments upstairs.
