Iron Chef Canada will get cooking next year
New Corus lineup also includes F.B.I. remake
Canada is getting its own version of the popular cooking competition series Iron Chef.
Corus Entertainment says Iron Chef Canada will debut in fall 2019 on Food Network Canada with contestants from across the country. Like the original series, the show will see the chefs preparing five dishes in one hour using a featured “secret ingredient.”
Iron Chef Canada is part of Corus’s newly announced 2018-19 lineup.
New American shows headed to Global include the Dick Wolf-produced F.B.I., starring Canadian Missy Peregrym, and the medical drama New Amsterdam.
New comedies on the docket include The Neighborhood with Cedric the Entertainer, Happy Together with Damon Wayans Jr., and the Amy Poehler-produced I Feel Bad.
Returning series include Mary Kills People, Big Brother Canada, Private Eyes and Top Chef Canada. Corus is among several media companies unveiling their TV lineups in an annual spring tradition known as the upfronts.
Also on Monday, Rogers Media announced that Citytv NOW and FX NOW streaming services will launch this September.
Last week, Bell Media unveiled its American show acquisitions, including the soapy drama Grand Hotel, and the cop dramas The Rookie and Magnum P.I. for CTV. Meanwhile, CraveTV will have a new, original, femaledriven mockumentary series, New Eden.
CBC’s recent 2018-19 lineup unveiling included a reboot of Street Legal.
