SUV seen near homicide sought

Windsor Police are seeking informatio­n about a dark, newer SUV witnesses saw parked behind an apartment building at University Avenue West and McKay Avenue between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. the morning Autumn Taggart was killed. Police were called to the Salah Apartments around 10 p.m. June 10 following the report of a sudden death. The female victim was identified Friday as 31-year-old Autumn Taggart of Windsor, also known as Maya Madolyn. Staff-Sgt. Ted Novak told media Saturday the cause of death was blunt force trauma. Investigat­ors are canvassing the area around the apartment building where Taggart’s body was found. Police would like anyone in the neighbourh­ood to report anything in their backyards they don’t remember seeing prior to June 10. “Anything out of the ordinary, any little detail is what we’re looking for right now,” said Novak. Taggart’s nine-year-old child was home when police arrived. Investigat­ors believe the child was inside the apartment when the homicide occurred. Novak said the child is safe and staying with family. Police stationed a mobile command post at the intersecti­on of McKay Avenue and University Avenue West on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Anyone with informatio­n related to the case can stop by the mobile command post to share it with police. This was the fourth of five homicides in Windsor in 2018.
