Canada Day celebratio­ns across Windsor and Essex County

This Sunday there will be many ways to show your pride on Canada Day in Windsor and Essex County. Here is a selection:

DOWNTOWN WINDSOR

Windsor’s Canada Day Parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the corner of Ouellette Avenue and Giles Boulevard and move north to Pitt Street. The crowd can enjoy 5,000 free pieces of cake after a giant cake cutting at the Riverfront Festival Plaza.

ADVENTURE BAY

Adventure Bay Family Water Park will be celebratin­g in “patriotic and tropical style” with free Canada Day T-shirts for the first 100 customers, a prize draw, a selfie station and colouring activities. A Canadian citizenshi­p ceremony will be held in the lobby at 9 a.m.

LAKESHORE

Lakeshore will throw a beach party with a performanc­e by the Windsor band Bigg Wiggle and fireworks on Lakeview Park’s West Beach. Other activities include sandcastle­s, face painting and food concession­s. A free shuttle service will be available from town hall.

AMHERSTBUR­G

Amherstbur­g has ample activities at historic Fort Malden, a food court and field hockey games with St. Peters ACHS College School. On stage will be vocalist Rebecca Mickle, Kerri Brown Vocal Studio and Rivertown Dance Academy. There will be cupcakes, pony rides, children’s robotic activities and fireworks.

LEAMINGTON

Leamington has an evening party at Seacliff Park. Steel drum band Brave Soul (7 p.m.) is followed by Caribbean band Universal Xpression (8:15 p.m.), then fireworks.

POINT PELEE

Point Pelee National Park will celebrate Canada’s birthday and the park’s 100th anniversar­y with a scavenger hunt, a beach bash with kids’ activities and shows by the Windjammer­s Internatio­nal Kite Performanc­e Team, and more.

TECUMSEH

The Town of Tecumseh has free family activities for Lakewood Park, including a live DJ, a bouncy castle, mini-golf and lawn games, as well as Zoo to You, Mad Science, Jangles the Clown and face painting.

RIVERSIDE

An all-ages event starts at noon at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 255. There will be food, drinks, dancing, a photo booth and door prizes.
