Ciociaro Club to welcome Italian pro soccer team
The Ciociaro Club is set to bring professional soccer to the area at the end of the month.
The Ciociaro Club will host professional club Frosinone Calcio, which will play in Italy’s top league, Serie A, this coming season. “The Essex County Soccer Association is proud to support this excellent initiative which will serve to further promote soccer throughout Windsor (and) Essex (County),” ECSA president Joe Barile said in a release. “This official tour of an Italian professional soccer club in Windsor (and) Essex (County) acknowledges the progress we have made in player development. “Frosinone Calcio is looking to build lasting relationships with our local soccer clubs.” Frosinone Calcio is from the region of Italy where the founding members of the Ciociaro Club originate and the club, which was promoted to Serie A after this past season, is looking to build its fan base throughout the world. “We’re excited and honoured to bring to Windsor (and) Essex County a unique experience of Italian professional soccer and proud to host Frosinone Calcio which hails from our ancestral homeland in Italy,” Ciociaro Club vice-president Anna Vozza said. The plan is for Frosinone Calcio to practice at the Ciociaro Club at 9:30 a.m. on July 30 and the club will then head to Hamtramck, Mich. on July 31 for an exhibition with Detroit City FC at 7 p.m. “We decided to come to Canada in July to kick-start our training for the 2018-2019 season and are travelling to Windsor for three days to be with the community,” said Salvatore Gualtieri, who is the director of marketing Frosinone Calcio. “It is an honour to have the opportunity to play a game against Detroit City FC, so that the soccer fans in Windsor (and) Essex (County) have the opportunity to see Frosinone Calcio play.”
