A21 ACADEMY RECRUIT

The A21 Academy has added centre Valentin Tarasenko. An 18-year-old centre, Tarasenko is the younger brother of St. Louis Blues star Vladimir Tarasenko. “To have something like this, in our second year, is a huge signing,” A21 head coach Robb Serviss said. “To get a kid like this is a huge plus. I know he’s a skill kid and that’s what helps grow the program.” The older Tarasenko’s agent is Alexei Dementiev, who has two kids enrolled at the prep academy. “They want him to learn English, so the schooling is a big part, too, not just the hockey,” Serviss said.

KASCHALK A STAR

Windsor’s Patrick Kaschalk, 20, was named to the NCAA’s America East Conference rookie lacrosse all-star team.

A midfielder for Stony Brook University in New York, Kaschalk finished third on the team in scoring with 17 goals and 25 points. Kaschalk, a Holy Names high school grad and Windsor Clippers product, is playing junior A lacrosse for the Burlington Chiefs.
