CHANEL LE VERNIS VELVET NAIL COLOUR 636 ULTIME

They say: A matte nail polish from the French beauty brand Chanel that gives nails a “velvet” finish. The red shade, titled 636 Ultime, is one of two limited-edition shades released for the brand’s Fall-Winter makeup collection. We say: This punchy red shade is a nice alternative to the typically moody offerings for fall/winter. Our tester was pleased with how two coats left nails fully covered with polish. The formula is quickdrying and, as promised, gives nails a cool matte look that is surprisingly resistant to chips and smudges.

VALMONT V-LINE LIFTING CREAM

They say: A “smoothing face cream” that targets wrinkles and provides skin-rejuvenating results. The cream is part of a new fall release for the luxury skin care brand that features AWF5, “a dual-line solution to fight the most visible signs of aging with absolute precision.”

We say: This thick cream leaves skin feeling soothed and smoothed. Our tester was impressed with how well it absorbed into skin — a little goes a long way — especially given its luxuriously thick texture. The results lasted from application to application, without any notice of dryness or dullness in between. Skin looked smoother with continued use.

NEUTROGENA LIGHT THERAPY ACNE SPOT TREATMENT

They say: An at-home light therapy treatment to help combat acne breakouts. Using clinically proven light therapy technology, this pen provides both red and blue light options to “reduce breakouts without flaking or burning.” We say: The gadget is simple to use. The only complaint is the suggested frequency of treatments (2 to 3 times per day). Each light therapy session lasts only two minutes, though, so we’re excited to see how well this pen works with long-term use. So far, so good.
