Brass knuckles, push dagger, meth, cocaine seized during raid on house

A raid by Windsor police on a residence in the city’s core yielded contraband that included illicit street drugs and prohibited weapons on Tuesday. Members of the drugs and guns unit (DIGS) have been investigat­ing a residence at Ellis Street East and Ouellette Avenue. They executed a search warrant at the address around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. The dwelling had three adult male occupants at the time, all of whom were placed under arrest. A search of the persons and the premises revealed 74.6 grams of suspected crack cocaine, about one gram of suspected crystal methamphet­amine, and two weapons considered illegal in Canada: a set of brass knuckles and a “T”-handled knife known as a push dagger. Section 28 of the Canada Border Services Agency memorandum D19-13-2 on import and export of weapons and devices defines a push dagger as any knife “designed in such a fashion that the handle is place perpendicu­lar to the main cutting edge of the blade.” Also seized were a digital scale, cellphones and cash.

Kyle Royse, 28, of Windsor, faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of traffickin­g, and breach of recognizan­ce.

Steven Folkes, 31, of Brampton, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of traffickin­g.

John Rees, 35, of Nackawic, N.B., faces two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of traffickin­g, and breach of an undertakin­g.
