Three arrested in downtown Windsor shooting
Windsor police announced Thursday the apprehension of three men involved in a shooting Oct. 5 in the area of Maiden Lane and Ouellette Avenue.
A 26-year-old Windsor resident, Luther Downey, has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm without a licence and reckless discharge of a firearm. Thirty-two-year-old Windsor resident Anthony Jones has been charged with possession of a firearm without a licence and obstruction of justice.
The victim of the shooting is 28-year-old Robert Edwards of Mississauga. Edwards, who is still recovering from his serious wounds, has been charged with possession of a firearm without a licence, pointing a firearm, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (suspected methamphetamine) and breach of recognizance.

In a press release, police said Downey approached Edwards, fired his handgun and subsequently fled the area in what police called a targeted shooting. Edwards was also seen pointing a gun shortly after the incident before handing it off to another male. Edwards was also found in possession of suspected illicit drugs. He was placed under arrest Oct. 10.
One of the involved males attended Windsor Police headquarters on Oct. 8 and was subsequently placed under arrest.
