Public library holding big book and DVD sale this weekend

- CHRIS THOMPSON

The Windsor Public Library is holding its annual book and DVD sale this weekend at the main downtown branch.

Avid readers and viewers will find thousands of titles to choose from covering all sorts of genres. Hardcover books and trade paperbacks will be priced at $2 and mass market and small paperbacks will be $1.

The sale runs Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The library is also offering plastic bags for $2 that you can fill with books or a cardboard box for $5.

Bags and boxes are supplied by the library.

The most common genre for sale is fiction, but there are also biographies, history, self-help and how-to books available.

The library is selling the books and DVDs as a result of an ongoing de-selection process because they are surplus materials or they are classified as out of date.

The library is also selling donated items they do not need.

All of the books will be sorted by subject and there is also a wide selection of books in languages including Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese, Croatian, German, Hungarian, Italian, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish and Urdu. There will also be a number of large print books available. The Windsor Public Library has sales at individual branches throughout the year but also hold large sales at the central branch. All proceeds from the sale will go to purchase new library materials.
