Public board signs pact with South Korean school
Memorandum aimed at developing cultural and educational experiences
The Greater Essex County District School Board has signed a five-year memorandum of understanding with a high school in Seoul, South Korea, to “develop and implement international youth educational opportunities and cultural experiences.”
The document was signed Monday at the public board’s administrative building by GECDSB director of education Erin Kelly and principal Seok-ho Kim of the Yuhan Technical High School in Guro, Seoul, South Korea. Guro, Seoul, is an official Friendship City with the City of Windsor. The five points of the memorandum of understanding are: Promoting student and teacher
■ exchange in the area of culture, arts and sports where appropriate; Co-operating to develop international
■ educational program opportunities (i.e. language, internationalism and multiculturalism) between both parties; Co-operating to carry out the
■ global study programs conducted by the Korean government. GECDSB shall make preparations corresponding to the global study programs and provide the students in those programs with more and better opportunities from the partnership in Canada;

District School Board and Yuhan high school will jointly implement mutually agreed upon guidelines of acceptance of this partnership; For interpretation of this agreement
■ in case of any discrepancy about the articles, both parties shall try to understand it positively and in favour of both.
In 2016, the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board signed a similar MOU with Guro.
