Warrant issued for Christmas stabbing suspect
Police have named a suspect in the vicious stabbing that occurred in LaSalle on the night of Dec. 25. Shanique White, 25, is now the subject of a Canada-wide arrest warrant. He’s wanted on a charge of attempted murder. According to police, the accused is a U.S. citizen with ties to both Detroit and Phoenix, Ariz.
He’s described as a black male, six-feet tall and about 180 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair and no visible tattoos.
He was last seen in LaSalle driving an orange Honda Element with an Arizona licence plate. LaSalle police said they believe the accused has fled their jurisdiction and is currently somewhere in the U.S.
Shortly before 9 p.m. on Christmas Day, officers responded to a report of a stabbing victim in the area of Matchette Road and Golfview Drive.
The victim, a 20-year-old Windsor man, was located and found to be suffering from multiple wounds to his upper torso and left arm. The bleeding man was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. LaSalle police said the victim has since been released from hospital and is recovering. Investigators determined that the attacker and the victim know each other. On the night in question, they met at a residence in Windsor and travelled together in an orange Honda with the intention of going to a bar in LaSalle. The bar was closed. The two men continued travelling into LaSalle, eventually stopping on a roadway near Matchette and Golfview. At that location, the Windsor man was stabbed several times during an altercation.
The victim fled the vehicle on foot, staggering through a wooded area to reach some residences and pleaded for help.
