Superb care during surgery, recovery

-

Recently, Dr. Greg Jasey performed my second knee replacement surgery at the Ouellette campus of Windsor Regional Hospital. The nurses there are extremely hard working, friendly and professional.

I was then fortunate to transfer to the Tayfour Rehabilitation Centre at Hotel-dieu Grace Healthcare where the manager, Mrs. Berthiaume, runs an excellent program.

I received wonderful rehabilitation services from the physical and occupational therapists,

Jessi and Kelly. They developed an individualized program and always carefully explained what they were doing and why.

The nursing staff were also attentive and greeted you with a smile. A special thank you to Connie, Suad, and Helen who made each day better. The rest of the staff also do their best to care for you, from food services to the cleaning staff.

I was also very fortunate to have Dr. Khleafa who was able to head off what could have been a serious problem, with his expertise.

I have mentioned just some of the great dedicated people who are working at the centre. Besides my own recovery, I witnessed many of my fellow patients make fantastic progress as they were carefully guided through recovery.

We are so fortunate to have a program like this. It is an example of what can happen when the government and private contributors come together to serve the public.

Having once lived in the U.S., I realize how fortunate we are to have such quality of service available regardless of income. It is important that we appreciate it and fight to preserve it.
