Police investigate report of suspicious man in S. Windsor

- DALSON CHEN

Complaints about a man approaching children in South Windsor has prompted an appeal by police for witnesses.

Investigators with the major crimes branch are specifically asking to speak with two people who informally reported the incident last weekend.

The location was a business in the 3100 block of Dougall Avenue. The date was Nov. 23.

Windsor police did not specify the business by name. The block is a large plaza area that includes Walmart, Petsmart, Partsource, Dollarama and other retail stores.

The first report came from a customer who called the store to describe a confrontation that happened at the business earlier.

The customer said an adult male was going up to kids in a suspicious manner. When the customer confronted the man, he left the area.

It is believed the customer was at the store between 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

A second customer also spoke to an employee in the parking lot about a similar incident. Police believe that incident may have involved the same suspicious man.

Neither customer gave their names when they spoke to employees about what happened. Now police are hoping the two witnesses are willing to talk to investigators.

“If you believe you are the person who reported the suspicious activity, investigators would like to hear from you, as information provided may greatly assist in an active investigation,” police said on Tuesday.
