Youths who degraded victim face charges

- DALSON CHEN dchen@postmedia.com

Windsor police have charged two youths with assault after investigating a disturbing video showing another youth being punched, kicked and humiliated.

The video — reportedly taken earlier this week at the skate park at 3215 Forest Glade Dr. in Windsor’s east end — starts with the young male victim already on his knees, surrounded by at least three other male teens.

One suspect demands that the victim kiss his foot. Another suspect strikes the victim from behind, punching him twice in the head.

The victim complies and kisses the first suspect’s shoe. The suspect then kicks the victim in the face.

The incident continues with the first suspect charging the victim and taking him down, then both assailants swarming the victim with punches and kicks as he rolls on the ground.

Voices can be heard encouraging the assault and shouting in celebration, with constant use of the N-word.

The victim can be seen getting to his feet at the end of the video.

Windsor police said they are aware of the video, which has been shared widely on Facebook, and it is part of the investigation.

Although police were notified about the incident on Tuesday, the attack reportedly took place on Monday around 5 p.m.

The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening. Investigators don’t think the attack was random.

Police said two male suspects were identified and arrested. Both are under the age of 18. Both are facing assault charges.

The names of the accused cannot be released due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The major crimes branch is continuing to investigate.
