Lancers knock off Ravens

The No. 9-ranked University of Windsor Lancers women’s basketball team beat the No. 5 Carleton Ravens 71-67 on Saturday in OUA action at the Fairall Fieldhouse.

Third-year Windsor forward Erin Kenny tied a career high with 12 points against the Ravens (13-6). Kayah Clarke had 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Lancers (14-4) while Samantha Gucciardi chipped in with 11 points.

The Windsor men’s team fell 109-66 to the top-ranked Ravens and have lost three in a row.

Chris Poloniato had 13 points for the Lancers (8-10) against the Ravens (19-0). Thomas Kennedy finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Shakael Pryce chipped in with 10 points. Lancers hockey: The University of Windsor Lancers men’s and women’s team each fell on the road in OUA hockey on the weekend.

The men’s team lost 9-3 to the West-leading Toronto Varsity Blues while the women fell 3-1 to the Western Mustangs in London.

For the men, Brennan Feasey, Sean Olson and Ben Asad scored for the Lancers (14-10-0-2). In the women’s game, Samantha Spagnol got the Lancers (3-15-2) on the board 80 seconds into the game, but Western (11-8-1) rallied with three goals.

Lancers volleyball: The Lancers women’s and men’s volleyball team both split a pair of weekend OUA road games.

The women’s team had its fivematch winning streak come to an end Sunday in a four-set loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues after beating the Trent Excalibur in three sets on Saturday.

The men’s team fell in five sets on Sunday to Toronto after sweeping Trent in three sets on Saturday.

For the women, Yaila Sealy had 16 kills and Amie Slawson had 23 digs for the Lancers (8-7) in a 2125, 25-19, 25-18 and 25-15 loss to Toronto (12-2).

Lexi Pollard had 15 kills and Slawson had 14 digs in a 25-11, 2516 and 25-17 win over Trent (1-13).

For the men, Pierce Johnson had 18 kills, Sean Spencer added 11 kills and 10 digs and Brad Gyemi finished with 11 kills for the Lancers in a 25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 15-25 and 25-12 loss to Toronto (12-1).

Against the Excalibur (0-13), Johnson had 10 kills and 11 digs in a 25-14, 25-18 and 25-23 victory. Saints volleyball: The St. Clair Saints women’s volleyball team scored a three-set sweep over the Conestoga Condors in OCAA volleyball action on Saturday at the Sportsplex while the men fell in three sets to Conestoga.

For the women, Shalena Horst had 13 kills and Amelia Oliverio added 10 as the Saints (12-3), who have won six straight, beat the Condors (2-13) (25-10, 25-22, 25-14).

The men’s team had its fourmatch winning streak stopped as the Saints (8-7) fell 25-17 25-18 and 25-22 to the Condors (11-4).
