Two charged in connection with shooting in January
Two men are facing charges related to a man who arrived at the Ouellette Campus of Windsor Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound in January.
Windsor police said investigators with the major crimes branch were able to identify two suspects in connection with the incident.
One suspect was arrested on Wednesday, and the other was arrested Thursday.
The crime happened on the afternoon of Jan. 27.
Police responded around 1:25 p.m. to a report that an adult male had arrived at the Ouellette Campus of Windsor Regional Hospital with an injury from a firearm.
The injury was not life-threatening.
An investigation was immediately launched. The 1300 block of Ouellette Avenue and the 1300 block of Pelissier Street were temporarily closed while multiple units — including a police dog — scoured the area.
No firearm was found.
Windsor police have not disclosed what information or evidence led to the arrests this week.
Jason Harris, 37, of Windsor, and Alexander Caza, 23, of no fixed address, have both been charged with aggravated assault and robbery.
At the time of Caza’s arrest, he was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine.
Caza has additionally been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Windsor police said a firearm has still not been recovered.
