Local fundraising efforts support breast health
Breast imaging at local health-care facilities is getting a boost this year from fundraising efforts inspired by International Women’s Day.
An annual dinner and walkthrough fashion show Friday at the Ciociaro Club is expected to host more than 750 women, with proceeds going to Windsor Regional Hospital’s Breast Health Centre.
Now in its 16th year, the event has already raised more than $170,000 for the centre.
“Women can come out and celebrate womanhood with their friends and people who are important to them,” said Anna Vozza, a member of the Ciociaro Club’s International Women’s Day committee. Last year alone, the event raised $20,000.
“We’re celebrating International Women’s Day, and we’re also contributing to a great cause.”
The event comes one week after the Erie Shores Health Foundation raised $130,000 to support the Care Happens Here campaign — a $15-million capital campaign for a state of the art diagnostic imaging department and new health information system at Erie Shores Healthcare. Funds raised at the sold out Yes Ma’am Fashion Show fundraiser, which took place in Kingsville at Mastronardi Estate Winery, go toward purchasing a contrast enhanced mammography attachment for Erie Shore Healthcare’s diagnostic imaging department.
International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 each year.
The International Women’s Day bash at the Ciociaro Club (3745
North Talbot Rd.) takes place Friday at 6 p.m. Tickets are $55 each and can be purchased by calling Anna Vozza at 519-919-3960.
