The LCBO will reduce hours beginning Thursday in the wake of the province declaring a state of emergency over the coronavirus.

Operating times at LCBO stores will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Regular hours vary by location but some outlets are open 12 hours a day.

“This measure follows previous action taken to elevate store cleaning and sanitization protocols and increased prevention awareness among employees,” an LCBO statement released Tuesday said.

“Delivery options remain available to customers, though customers will have to follow pickup directions provided by Canada Post for home deliveries.”

According to the LCBO, Canada Post has suspended home delivery of packages where proof of age is required.

Stores will not accept product returns during the COVID-19 crisis but customers are being encouraged to hold on to products and receipts for later returns.

The LCBO said it will increase store cleaning and the number of hand sanitizers available to customers and staff.

All in-store tastings and events are cancelled.

“LCBO Convenience Outlets authorized to sell beverage alcohol are privately owned and business hours may vary,” the statement said.

The Beer Store remains open for now.

“Store standards, hygiene and safety procedures have and will continue to be practised diligently,” a Beer Store statement said.

“All store employees have been trained to uphold and practise our health and safety procedures. With continued education and awareness and the use of protective devices, we are adhering to practices that minimize risk.”
