Pauline Besharah-armstrong 1930-2020

Pauline Laurentia Besharah-armstrong led a “perfect life” full of travel, entertaining family and tending to her splendid gardens at the Port Elmsley home she shared with her husband.

“She was a firecracker. She led a full life, your typical French-canadian lady who cooked way too much and cared way too much and was passionate about everything,” said her son, Shon Besharah, the youngest of her six children. “She pretty much had it all. She lived the perfect life. She was a huge entertainer, she loved having people around her.”

On Friday, April 3 in the early morning, Pauline died at age 89 from complications resulting from COVID-19.

She was predeceased by her husband, Larry Armstrong, and former husband Moses Besharah. She was mother to Claire, Bob, Mel, Kim, Kelly and Shon — loved by all.

Her husband Larry owned several businesses around the Ottawa area, including the hazardous gas-detection company Armstrong Monitoring.

“They spent their life travelling the world, then they built their dream home out in Port Elmsley. Four acres with these massive beautiful gardens, just incredible, and they worked day and night on their garden,” said Shon Besharah.

She was a proud member of the Smiths Falls Horticulture Society for many years, where her family said “she was able to express her creativity. Pauline had a passion for everything in her life, which she instilled in all of her children and grandchildren.”

The family sent special thanks to the Empress Kanata retirement home and Stoneridge Manor Long Term Care home in Carleton Place.
