Three suspects in homicide arrested in Kitchener region
Windsor police have laid first degree murder charges against three men with no fixed address following a fatal South Windsor shooting last month.
Shortly before 11 p.m. on April 1, patrol officers with the Windsor Police Service responded to a report of gunfire in the 2200 block of Northway Avenue.
Officers located a man suffering from what police described as a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital for treatment.
A vehicle located in the area had apparent gunshot damage, police said. Inside, officers found an adult woman, who was pronounced deceased from an apparent gunshot injury. Detectives were able to identify three adult males as having been involved in the homicide, police said on Monday. Arrest warrants were issued for each wanted individual.
Further investigation led officers to believe all three suspects had left the Windsor area. They learned the suspects may be in the
Kitchener-waterloo region.
Investigators from the Windsor police major crimes branch then liasoned with members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
On Friday, all three suspects were arrested in the Kitchener area with the assistance of Waterloo Regional Police.
Following the arrests, members of the Windsor police major crimes branch applied for and received judicial authorization to search a residence located near Kitchener. A number of items were seized in relation to the investigation.
Keermaro Rolle, 23, Kyle Hanna, 26, and Tomeko Vilneus, 26, are each charged with first degree murder, attempted murder, two counts of forcible confinement, and two counts of assault (choking).
The suspects were returned to Windsor to answer to their charges in court.
The Windsor Police Service expressed thanks to the Waterloo Regional Police Service for its assistance in the investigation.
