PM’S gun grab won’t help public safety

In case anyone needed reminding of just how much Canada resembles a banana republic in terms of governance, look no further than the arbitrary, capricious, nonsensical, unworkable and unconstitutional attempted gun grab of Trudeau and his gang of incompetents.

A minority government with no mandate from the people employs a sneaky backdoor route to circumvent Parliament and implement legislation they knew would not withstand Parliamentary scrutiny due to its inherent unconstitutionality. Even those who might agree with the ban should be very concerned with the way it was implemented.

Sadly, this is all too typical of the Liberal approach: “Look, another horrific and senseless mass shooting! Let’s go after the law-abiding responsible gun owners!” Rather than sensible and rational measures such as intercepting guns illegally smuggled into Canada or penalizing criminals for gun crimes (Liberals tend to reduce or eliminate measures targeting criminals) they prefer easier targets such as the Canadian firearms community.

Their proposed ban of “military-style” or “assault-type” firearms will do absolutely NOTHING for public safety or criminal misuse of guns. This gun-grab attempt will only make criminals out of law-abiding Canadians and/ or deprive them of their property.

I urge all gun owners to refuse to comply and to legally challenge any attempted confiscation. We need to stand united and refuse to let them get away with this. There is no place in Canada or any democracy for this sort of behaviour. Shame on Trudeau and the Liberal party for exploiting the COVID crisis and the recent tragedy in Nova Scotia to further their antidemocratic political and ideological agenda. The firearms community and the people of this country deserve better.
