Too many families still separated

-

My family is one of the many families that are still being impacted by the closure of the Canada-u.s. land border.

We are one of the families the new restrictions for family reunification still does not help.

The 14-day quarantine to enter into Windsor is one that cannot be met by so many families.

With my husband now back at work in Michigan, it is impossible for him to be off work for 14 days.

Therefore, he is still unable to cross on the weekends to be with us. He has no choice but to cross for work purposes. He should be exempt from this — especially if people from Windsor are exempt from it to cross for work into Michigan.

It should work both ways. He has been greatly missed for 15 weeks now.

He has missed Mother’s Day, two of his children’s birthdays, Father’s Day and his own birthday.

It has been really hard mentally going through this pandemic separated.

With many more weeks ahead and still separated, with the closure extended now until July 21 and not knowing when it will open again — it’s just horrible to think about.

We can’t keep doing this. It’s not healthy for families to be apart this long. It’s honestly torture.

It’s time to let us reunite. Immediate family members should be exempt from the 14-day quarantine.

It is not realistic and it is still separating so many families.

To make you choose between your job or seeing your family again is so wrong to do.
