Please reconsider streetcar location

Re: Kusmierczyk called out as city hall frustration mounts over rejected projects, by Brian Cross, Oct. 24

I just read the article and it mentioned how the city of Windsor was rejected by the federal government and did not receive the grant for $3 million for the proposed Celestial Beacon project.

I do not believe the government was wrong in turning this grant down.

I am a taxpayer and business operator in the city owning two properties and believe council should reconsider using $7 million of taxpayers' money on this project that includes putting the refurbished streetcar on the riverfront. Those funds should instead be used for more important projects.

Also, now that you have not received the grant, the placement of the streetcar should not be down at the river. Next to the art gallery would be a more appropriate place, so that when people visit the Art Gallery, the Chimczuk Museum or the aquatic centre they could also visit the streetcar at the same time.

People can even walk from Caesars Windsor or many hotels to this location. School outings would have ample parking for buses.

Once the cruise ships start sailing again the enhanced museum with the streetcar would be a more entertaining attraction. This would bring more people to an area I feel greatly needs help.

I am a concerned citizen asking for you to reconsider this large project at the planned location.
