Transform your home into a wonderland of holiday delights
Wonderful holiday gifts and décor not seen in other stores in Windsor-essex County are now available at Home Expressions, a boutique within the Tecumseh Home Hardware Building Centre.
Taking in festive displays and on trend vignettes, “customers can't believe their eyes. They are raving about our selection and prices,” says Shelee Guarino, manager and store merchandiser.
“Normally, every January we go to Home Hardware headquarters in St. Jacobs and order our items for the year. I opted not to do that in early 2020, and instead went to the Toronto Gift Fair and ordered everything for the holidays – decorations, home décor and gifts. I've continued buying daily year-round from exciting suppliers so we can constantly put out new items in Home Expressions. We have gone all out for Christmas!” Guarino says.
“Since you won't spot our items anywhere else, you can buy pieces for your home without wondering if friends and neighbours already have them.”
Customers drop in regularly just to see Home Expressions' new arrivals. They come from all over Essex and Kent Counties, saying the selection is worth the drive to 1613 Lesperance Rd. near E.C. Row Expressway.
“Numerous customers give me their wish lists so I can look for their specific items when ordering stock. I'm happy to do personal shopping for them,” says Guarino.
She and her team of elves have transformed the always stylish Home Expressions into a fantasyland.
“Our Christmas section is beautifully set up. Walking through it will give you a warm feeling and help you visualize the décor and gifts in your own home,” Guarino assures.
To inspire rather than overwhelm shoppers, she has organized the vast selection of holiday items by theme. Meandering through the boutique, browsers will encounter the nature motif. Glamour shimmers in a profusion of soft pink, bling and feathered décor. Plaid accents and snuggly throws are a must for farmhouse holiday style. Classic Santa Claus and snowpeople establish a red and white palette that works well in contemporary and traditional homes.
“We have thousands of ornaments to choose from, in every colour and theme: sports, dance, occupational, Disney, baby's first Christmas and many more,” says Guarino.
“Cardinal ornaments are always in demand. The bird's rich red colour is perfect for the holidays.”

Ensuring there is a tree for every kind of home, “we have loads of table-top and miniature trees. They're great for apartments, people living in long-term care or in kids' bedrooms for a touch of magic their very own,” Guarino says.
“Silk flowers and plants are back in a big way for the holidays and year-round. Our flower shop within Home Expressions includes a large assortment of silk flowers, picks, ribbons and bows for crafts or decoration,” she says. “Our staff can help you pick materials to make your own beautifully coordinated wreath or centrepiece.”
An entire aisle is filled with indoor and outdoor lights, plus illuminated trees, snowmen, reindeer and other décor to transform the yard into a holiday head-turner.
Giant stockings are waiting to be filled with gifts from Home Expressions, the go-to source for presents for the holiday and all other occasions, including the arrival of a new baby, birthdays, retirement and memorials.
Wall décor includes clocks, wood and metal signs inscribed with inspirational and humorous messages and decorative nautical products.
Fun models of classic cars, tractors, planes and campers will be welcomed additions to the man cave or garage. Bar needs are covered with wine and cocktail glasses and beer mugs.
“Hockey is so important, we've created its own display of prints with sayings, wrought iron wall décor, door mats and hockey sticks turned into coat hooks,” says Guarino.
Pampering is available in many
forms, such as aromatic diffusers used with Home Expressions' selection of more than 50 essential oils, waffle bars, candles, incense, backflow cones, salt lamps and remote-controlled candles.
“Our full-time carpenter made a ladder to display our collection of rugs in Home Expressions - and customers love the ladder itself so much that he frequently builds more for their homes,” Guarino says with a chuckle.

“If you see something you love,” Guaranio advises, “grab it now because it will likely be gone soon.”
