Rock the Block returns
Watch four teams compete to see whose home renovations create the most value
Make room for the new kids on the block. The HGTV renovation show Rock the Block will return for a second season, along with some major changes.
The first go-round saw designers Leanne Ford, Mina Starsiak Hawk, Jasmine Roth and Alison Victoria each get $175,000 and four weeks to trick out identical homes — with the person adding the most property value declared the winner. (Roth was ultimately the champion.)
This time eight designers, both male and female, will participate in four teams: Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent; David Bromstad and Tiffany Brooks; Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt; and Alison Victoria returns to participate with Mike Holmes.
Plus, the reno budget expands to $225,000 and Ty Pennington replaces Drew Scott as host.
“Nothing says high stakes like double the stardom, double the personalities and double the fun,” HGTV president Jane Latman said.
“Expect to see impressive displays of strategy, creativity and incredible designs from these top stars in Rock the Block — definitely bring the popcorn.”
In addition, the judges for different areas of the homes are also big names. Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae Young will judge kitchen spaces, Page Turner will grade living room and foyer transformations, and Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson will take the main bedroom suites. Basement makeovers go to Tamara Day, while outdoor spaces are the domain of Carmine Sabatella and Mike Pyle.
As in the first season, the winning team will have their names memorialized on a neighbourhood street sign.
Season 1 of Rock the Block aired in October 2019. Season 2 will premiere in early 2021.
