A woman from Windsor faces several criminal charges following multiple collisions in the city on Tuesday evening.

At approximately 7 p.m., patrol officers with the Windsor Police Service responded to a report of a vehicle being driven erratically in the area of Tecumseh Road East and Parent Avenue.

Officers began to search the area when a second caller reported the same vehicle was moving erratically on Walker Road near North Service Road.

Police in that area were approached by a witness who said the suspect vehicle had collided with theirs. Both vehicles were still at the scene.

When an officer approached the suspect vehicle, the driver drove away, hitting the witness's vehicle again in the process.

Travelling slowly, the suspect vehicle then struck another vehicle near E.C. Row Expressway. Police stopped the suspect vehicle, though the driver tried to flee the scene again by repeatedly stepping on the gas pedal and striking the second vehicle involved.

Officers had to force their way into the suspect vehicle, police said. They then arrested the driver without further incident.

Police determined the driver was “heavily under the influence of alcohol.”

There were no serious injuries reported, “although this entire incident was an extremely dangerous situation,” police said.

A 56-year-old Windsor woman is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to stop for police.

She was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

The matter remains under investigation.
