Salads are at top of Windsor orders via Skip the Dishes

Salads were what people in Windsor have ordered the most through Skip the Dishes so far this year — along with chicken and burgers.

The Canadian food- ordering app and delivery company ( skipthedishes. com) announced on Wednesday the most popular items among Windsor customers in 2020.

According to the company, Windsor's results — salads, chicken and burgers, in that order — differed slightly from national trends, which put Asian dishes, burgers and pizzas as the Top 3 picks across Canada.

Needless to say, COVID-19 restrictions have made 2020 a banner year for Skip the Dishes: The company reports that the number of Windsor restaurants that have joined the Skip the Dishes network increased by 44 per cent this year.

With indoor dining being limited like never before, customers have turned to the app as a way to support local businesses.

Skip the Dishes said the Top 3 independently-owned restaurants in the region for orders this year are: Kona Sushi (1801 Wyandotte St. E.); Simon's Prime Hamburgers (3580 Tecumseh Rd. E.); and Oven 360 Pizza (3873 Walker Rd., Unit 106).

Provincewide, Skip the Dishes has found other interesting trends. For example: Ontario ordered more Halal, vegan and organic meals in 2020 than any other province in Canada.

The most expensive onetime order in Ontario this year had a total bill of $779.90.

Across Canada, the most expensive one-time order this year was placed in Edmonton and cost $900.27.

Feeling guilty about using Skip the Dishes? Consider this: One Ontario customer has placed 743 orders so far this year.

Headquartered in Winnipeg and founded in 2012, Skip the Dishes is a third-party company that allows online ordering from participating restaurants and doorstep delivery for a fee.
