LAZAR, Illes
With heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Illes - aka Bond, James Bond - on December 15, 2020 at 83 years of age at Met Hospital. Cherished husband of Idella (nee Steeves) for 53 years. He "has left the building" to be with his Saviour, Jesus Christ. Illes was born in Morahalom, Hungary, and immigrated to Canada in 1957 after the Hungarian Revolution. Cherished father of Steven, Sharon (Sean), Daniel (Natacha) and father-inlaw to Michelle. Proud grandfather of Jessica, Joshua, Evans, Gavin, Charlotte, Tyler, Mikaela and great-grandfather of Alexzander "the great". Grampy delighted in giving them gold coins (loonies) and chocolate. Family and family gatherings were very precious to him. He was also fully embraced by The Steeves Family in New Brunswick. He was predeceased by his parents, Illes and Erzebet, his brother, Istvan, and infant sister. Despite advancing blindness, "Doc" worked at Ford Motor Co. for 35 1/2 years, made many friends and greatly resisted retirement. He was a member of CAW Local 200. His interests were cars (which had excellent care), Tim Hortons (Roll up the Rim and chocolate Timbits) and socializing. He would talk or "preach" to anyone. We will always remember his animated stories and his sense of humour, which gave us many laughs! He liked to sing and had many favourites - two of which are Elvis "Thank you, thank you very much!” and Roy Orbison, his look-alike. Despite his sight, he always watched his favourite hockey team, Montreal Canadiens, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. He was a faithful member of Walkerville Baptist Church and will be fondly remembered as "The Greeter". The family would like to thank the paramedics, Windsor Regional ICU team, Saint Elizabeth Health Care, especially Bethany, Dr. Ronald B. Sorensen, Dr. Yusuf Oozeer, Rev. Tom Perry and staff of Walter D. Kelly’s. Arrangements entrusted to Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre. (519-252-5711). A private family service will be held. Cremation to follow. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date due to COVID. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the Retina Foundation of Canada, Canadian Lung Association, Walkerville Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice.
